Oenology

Oenology is the science and study of all aspects of wine and winemaking except vine-growing and grape-harvesting, which is a subfield called viticulture. Actually, this subject provides me a lot of knowledge especially about wine. I like this subject because I interested on wine. For me, wine is something new that I should know and learn about it. Evidently, wine is not only an alcoholic beverage which looks elegant physically and a lot of people enjoy it especially in western culture. The process how to make a wine and can produce in the public is very important. I like process and I interested on it, that is why I mentioned that I like wine.

During in the class, I was not only read the notes and heard the explanation from the lecturer about the notes. I learned how to taste the wine, where was it come from, which region, what is the vintage and etc. Every week, I tasted different wine and the color of it. That is also the part of why I interested on wine. By tasting the wine, I know different type of wine, which region, or what is the vintage, because different region and vintage, the taste of wine might be different. For me, every week is interesting because I learned something new and get new knowledge from this subject.

Nobody is perfect. So, every situation, be sure we have some weaknesses and we need to improve on it and make efforts so it will become our strengths. For me, I would like to improve my reading skill. Because, if I do presentation in front of the class like last week, I might answer correctly if I have a lot of knowledge. Then, I need to improve my communication skill. Because during the presentation, I still speak stutter. If I could improve more, it will be better for my future carrier.

For my futures carrier, this subject could take a lot of advantages. I know the basic thing about wine and people seldom know about it. Might be, from my basic knowledge, I could share to everybody who does not know and join in the workshop or wine community to gain more knowledge and experiences, so I could get into the upper level and know more and better about wine.

In conclusion, wine is interesting and makes me curious about it. Besides that, I need to improve a lot, so it would make me better understanding about wine, so I might get more knowledge and experiences. Hope, the knowledge and experiences that I get can worthwhile in my future carrier.

Tourism and Hospitality Law

First of all, rules are very important for us to manage our own life to make each of us comfortable each other. Same as like in the hotel. Hotel is a company which is many people inside there has different roles and responsibilities to run the hotel well. In order that the hotel can run well, I have learned about Tourism and Hospitality Law. Learning about tourism and hospitality law, I know that so many rules which are everyone must follow, so people can protect theirselves by the law each other.

The 3 important Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities that help me to complete the case study review project successfully are teamwork, trust each other and good communication. First, because of we are in a group member during do the project assignment, we need the good teamwork each other to do the project assignment, because if we had not the good teamwork it is unfair for a person who do the whole assignment alone. From that assignment, we suppose to learn and understand the case and we need to divide it part by part, so we will not waste the time and make it fast but the best. Then, we also need to trust each other to do the assignment for the purpose we can learn much and get the good mark from it. So, we need trust each other that we do the assignment correctly. Eventually, we have to have the good communication each other, so we can do the assignment according to what the lecturer  wants. If we would not have the good communication each other, we could not tell directly our opinions or ideas to our group member. It will help if we would have the good communication.

Those skills above that I mentioned are very important especially for my future carrier because, I had acted to my group and it very help me during do the assignment. In the group we need the good teamwork, because in the real life in the future, we will not do all the work by ourselves. We need someone to help us to do the work and give some idea, so we can create some creativity and innovative during do our job.

During do the assignment, I found some difficulties. I found the case from the internet. Sometimes from that case, I could not understand the English because of high standard English. So, I might open the dictionary to translate it to my language and make it easy understanding. Then, sometimes in the internet I could not get the information that I need, so I must find anywhere, so that the assignment can finish.

To make it less difficult, sometimes I ask my friends and listen to their suggestions or ideas. I also need to find by read some articles, books or newspapers. It really help me a lot to accomplish the assignment. By those, I learn a lot and get new knowledge because it forces me. If it was not, might be I would be never to learn about it.

Overall, this project gives me a lot of benefits. I gained a lot of new knowledge and I learn the type of persons, control the emotion so the group members can comfort each other and improve language skill. From those, I might be improved better for my future carrier, because I get a lot of basics.

Management Accounting 

Management accounting is very important part when I go in to the industry. No matter which industries are but every industry needs accounting department especially hotel industry to manage the revenue of one company. The data of the account must be accurate and up to date to avoid existing fraud. Because if it was not accurate and up to date, how we can know that the company gets some profit, loss or revenue from the data. Then, I think account is the center of the company which manages income and outcome of the company.

I think  in management accounting subject, I perform well on topic 1,2 and the last topic which are Managerial Accounting, The Business Organization and Professional Ethics; Introduction to Cost Behavior; and Human Aspect on Budgeting. Because I think I can more understand and know well on theory part of the management accounting subject. About the other topics, I could not say that I do not like of the other topics, but I am very weak about the calculating part. I hard to understand, because a lot of steps should I make to solve that problems. And then make me confuse, because I do not know what the questions are talking about and hard to interpretation in to the answer paper. But from that, I always keep asking what and which topic I do not know and trying to do and ask help from my friends. They help me a lot on management accounting subject. Because of them, I got enough mark from class assessments, assignments or other projects until now.

The skills are important for me especially in my future carrier is teamwork, down to earth and passion. Those would help me for my future carrier and also to fulfill the management accounting subject. I have written teamwork because teamwork is very important in every area or department in the company. If we have no teamwork, so how we can fulfill our work in the future later if we do not start from now. Then, during in the class, the teamwork I got from my friend, because even we did not have any project or assignment on management accounting subject, we as a friend also help each other and discuss each other when other friend do not know how to solve the problem during do the paper work. I have written down to earth, because even I do not know some topic on this management accounting subject, I always keep asking about the topics which I do not know to my friend and trying to solve the problem on the paper work. I would not ask to my friend until I stuck on that paper work. For the future carrier always keep asking even we do not know about something, better we ask to someone than keep shy or afraid to ask to someone. I have written passion, because even I do not know some topics on this management accounting subject, I have passion to learn and study this subject. I hope I can better understand on this subject for my future carrier.

I believe I can apply the knowledge what I have learned during in the class to my field specialization. I would like to work in account department in a hotel. Even I do not know much about accounting, but I would like to learn and learn deeply about accounting. Those skills that I mentioned earlier will help me on my future carrier.

I rate my performance on this subject is around 5-6 rates. Because I think I would not have good performance. Like I have written on beginning that I am very weak on calculating part. The mostly part in management accounting is calculating part. I know who I am so, I think I feel satisfied of the rate what I get even in my deeply heart I am not satisfying. For my future carrier I need to improve more to get better or best rate.

In the conclusion, I had gotten a lot of fun, challenges and new experiences on this subject and also during in the class. I am very enjoy it. I learned from the challenges and the experience for better improve in my future.

MICE Management

The first time when I have seen that I have MICE Management subject, totally I did not know what that is. Even I have never heard about MICE. When I attended the first class, I just knew what does mean of MICE exactly. Chapter by chapter I learn and I know until last chapter. For me, MICE is the one of a few subjects which I like. One of the reasons is because of the lecturer explains slowly and clearly, so I can receive purposes of this subject. I have never thought that in management course has MICE which I think is dominant to event. I thought, MICE subject its only event course can learn it. Actually, I was wrong. So, I am a lucky one can learn about MICE because I interest about event. Even though its only basic thing, at least I know and I can imagine how to make an event. Overall what I have done and learned during in the class is, I know what are the MICE purposes. I learned start from: who is the suppliers and buyers of MICE, how to plan and develop MICE components, how to select the venue, how about the budgeting, how about registration for MICE, how to evaluation activities for MICE, how about the sponsorship in MICE, what is the logistics management of exhibition, how to organize and design of incentive travel and how about the marketing of MICE industry. Overall, step by step I know clearly about MICE subject and during in the class I can understand what the lecturer had already explained. So, now I know how to prepare an event especially in MICE industry.

From a few years before until now, MICE industry is growing rapidly especially in tourism industry. I think, MICE is belongs to tourism industry. An establishment in a country is not only attracts people from a whole world to come to their establishment to attend the MICE industry, but also attracts people to come and enjoy the tourism industry in the country itself. In my opinion, MICE industry can grow positively in the next 5 years. Because, people who comes to Malaysia to attend the meeting or conference the purpose is not only to attend the meeting or conference itself. People also can enjoy the tourism in Malaysia. Nowadays, the government in Malaysia is still developing MICE industry. Even the government also promotes MICE industry in Malaysia to the many countries in the world. And they also think that MICE industry brings high income and a part of economic transformation program in the next 5 years. So, for the next 5 years, MICE industry will evolve very well. As long as many business tourists come to Malaysia to develop their business itself and use the MICE services, I think, it is the positively progress in the MICE industry.
